Setup MFA on a new device

Select an authentication method to access your LPSO Microsoft 365 account.
If you still have access to your old device that is setup for MFA.
Proceed to step 2.
If you DO NOT have access to your old device that is setup for MFA.
Open a web browser and go to
https://helpdesk.lafayettesheriff.com
Create a new ticket requesting a One-Time Passcode (OTP) for your LPSO Microsoft 365 account.
The OTP can only be used once and also expires after a short period of time.
Once you have received your OTP, proceed to step 2.
From a computer, open a web browser and go to
https://myaccount.microsoft.com
Login to your LPSO Microsoft 365 account.
If you have an OTP, enter it as the "Temporary Access Pass".
From your LPSO Microsoft 365 account, select "UPDATE INFO" from the "Security info" widget.
Select "Add sign-in method"
Use the drop-down menu and select the "Authenticator app" option.
Select the "Add" button.
Click on the "Next" button.
You can use the QR code shortcuts with your device to download the Microsoft Authenticator app for your device.
If prompted by the authenticator app, allow notifications. Then add an account and choose to add a "Work or School" account.
On the computer, click the "Next" button.
From the Microsoft Authenticator app, select "Scan QR code".
If prompted, allow the app permission to access the device's camera.
Scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen.
On the computer, click the "Next" button.
A random code will be displayed on the computer. Use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone to verify the code.
On the computer, click on the "Next" button.
Click on the "Done" button to complete the setup.
Select "Delete" next to your old device from the list of configured sign-in methods to remove it.
